Packing Up for a Gallery Move
This short film shows the conservation team working on packing the Staffordshire Hoard objects that had been on display in Gallery 12 in Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery so that they could be moved to the larger Gallery 16 where they are now on display. The video was filmed on 30th May 2012.
The video features Brian Castriota, a graduate student in conservation and art history at the Institute of Fine Arts – New York University, who was on a three week placement at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. He also wrote a post about his Hoard work entitled The Thinking of a Conservator: Deciding What and What Not to Clean – you can read this on the Conservation & Research blog on this website.
