Analysis of the Staffordshire Hoard Organic Materials

In this video Peter Mc Elhinney, Staffordshire Hoard Organic Scientist, discusses the application of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) to characterise an unknown organic paste used in the construction of a beautiful cloisonné object. The analysis shows that the paste used for this object is a mixture of beeswax and calcium carbonate based material.
